The problem with ...
... reduction ad absurdum arguments such as this is that they assume that the ideas proponents would never go as far as the final absurdum. History has shown time and time again that this is not the case. Perhaps today's particular proponent's wouldn't go this far, but if they get their way, then tomorrow's will.
